Kind Of Like Bathing A Cat… Only Funnier.

Mike has got to be on drugs. Seriously. That’s the only reason I can imagine he is consistently getting up before 8 AM during this trip. It’s sick and wrong, I tell you. Sick and wrong. The boy’s travel alarm woke me up at 7:30 this morning so he could get up and pack before he left with yet another friend for what he has described as “the most delicious French toast I’ve ever tasted,” at Mother’s Bistro & Bar, which was only a few blocks away from the hotel. Apparently the French toast was made from cholla bread and fried, too. I wanted to come, too, but Mike said that I’m not enough of a morning person to be brought out in public for breakfast. Whatever that means. Jerk.

When he returned, I was coerced into the bag with promises of a blues festival, good food, and ice cream. I was not, however, informed of the fact that we would be making a quick stop at the Keller Fountain Park on the way and I was unceremoniously dumped in the middle of the tiered waterfall to pose for some pictures. You know how cats hate water? Well, wines hate it even more; not only is it used to weaken our booze, but it can potentially damage the labels on our bottles. There may have been some hissing. And swearing. And numerous threats towards Mike’s general well-being. According to him, my threats don’t carry a lot of weight because of my overall lack of appendages.

Soon afterwards, I was back in the bag and being taken down to the Waterfront Blues Festival, which featured some amazing live musicians from all over the Northwest, as well as talented local artisans, performers, and tasty foods/beverages (amusing side story: Mike managed to fail the Miller Lite taste test and offend the partially-clothed women working at the booth with his bourgeois tastes). We spent a couple of hours at the festival until it was time to finally leave Portland, and I have to say that it was a great way to spend our final few hours in the city. After that, we all drove out to Boise and, now, everyone is just about ready to crash. Once the lights go out, I plan on pouring red wine on Mike’s clean laundry as retaliation for putting me in the fountain. Wish me luck on my mission.

The water rushing is incredible – great photography. The blues fest looks outstanding – any music we should be collecting?

Thanks for the look -
